GE Vernova and RWE have teamed up to drive the energy transition in Texas. In an agreement announced today, GE Vernova will supply 109 state-of-the-art wind turbines , each with a capacity of 2.8 MW, for two major projects: the Honey Mesquite Wind Farm in Glasscock County and the Forest Creek Wind Farm upgrade in Big Spring.
Job creation and generation capacity
These projects are expected to provide clean energy and generate hundreds of jobs in the region. Numerous job opportunities will be created during the construction phase, while thousands of jobs will be sustained over the long term thanks to the advanced manufacturing of the turbines, which will take place at GE’s Vernova facility in Pensacola, Florida. The energy generated by these facilities will be sufficient to power more than 85,000 homes and businesses in Texas annually.

In addition to contributing to job creation, the company will leverage its robust domestic supply chain to ensure that these projects, in addition to benefiting the energy sector, also support local manufacturing.
Approximately 20% of the Pensacola workforce is comprised of veterans, underscoring the company’s commitment to local communities and commemorating those who have served the nation.
Wind turbines will be a step towards decarbonization
With more than 56,000 turbines installed worldwide, GE Vernova continues to lead the way in generating high-quality, affordable, and sustainable renewable energy, aligning with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions .
Our investment in Texas is a testament to our commitment to local energy production and improving U.S. supply chains and manufacturing. Together with GE Vernova, we are contributing to U.S. energy dominance and supporting rural communities.
Kevin Kroll, COO of RWE Clean Energy, highlighted the projects’ positive impact on the country’s energy stability.
