TWMA, the global leader in drilling waste management, has begun construction of its innovative facility in Habshan, Abu Dhabi. According to the company, this project will be the most advanced and self-sustaining drilling waste treatment facility in the world.
About the new drilling waste management plant
The plant, scheduled to open in the summer of 2025, will feature state-of-the-art technology to optimize the management, transportation and processing of drilling waste. With a capacity to handle up to 300 tons per day , it will allow the recovery of one barrel of oil or diesel per treated ton, boosting its energy self-sufficiency.
Thanks to TWMA’s XLink™ system , operators will have real-time access to key data on carbon emissions and other environmental parameters. This will contribute to reducing the ecological impact of the oil industry in the region.
The plant will incorporate TWMA’s RotoMill technology , designed to improve energy efficiency and reduce CO₂ emissions through electric drive and remote monitoring. With this innovation, TWMA will increase its overall processing capacity to more than 120,000 metric tons of drilling waste per year.
In addition to its technological advances, this new facility will have a positive impact on the local economy with the creation of approximately 60 jobs in the region.
Commitment to sustainability and regional development
Halle Aslaksen, CEO of TWMA, highlighted the importance of this project at the opening ceremony.
These facilities represent a significant advance in the sustainable management of drilling waste. By integrating our latest technologies, we are improving operational efficiency and significantly reducing carbon emissions.
With this development, TWMA consolidates its position as one of the leading companies in sustainable solutions for the drilling industry, guaranteeing more efficient and environmentally responsible processes.
