Petrobras, through its logistics division Transpetro, has announced the opening of a tender process for the acquisition of eight new LPG and ammonia tankers . This process is part of the company’s fleet renewal strategy, which seeks to strengthen Brazilian maritime infrastructure.

Tendering process for LPG tankers

The tender is divided into two specific lots:

  • Lot A : Consists of the acquisition of three semi-refrigerated vessels, with a loading capacity of 10,000 m³, intended for the transport of both LPG and ammonia (Class 79).
  • Lot B : Includes three pressurized LPG vessels, with a capacity of 7,000 m³ (Class 78), and two additional vessels with a capacity of 14,000 m³ (Class 84).

This process is key to strengthening the maritime transport sector and contributing to the modernization of the company’s fleet, ensuring long-term operational efficiency.

Impact on the shipping industry

The tender is part of a broader effort to revitalize Brazil’s logistics infrastructure and strengthen the shipbuilding sector. The strategy also includes increasing the participation of national components in the construction of these vessels, with the aim of generating more jobs and strengthening the local industry.
