Petrobras’ Búzios field marks a new record in oil production on February 24. Búzios, located in the Santos Basin, reached a historic production of 800 thousand barrels of oil per day. This achievement was made possible thanks to the recent addition of the FPSO Almirante Tamandaré , the largest floating production, storage and offloading unit in Brazil.
The record oil production in Búzios
Búzios, a constantly expanding field that began operations in 2018, has established itself as one of the most productive fields in the Brazilian oil industry .
This field, located at a depth of more than 2,000 metres on the seabed, has recorded several production records throughout its development, with a notable improvement in efficiency thanks to the implementation of new technologies.
The impact of the Almirante Tamandaré FPSO
With the arrival of this gigantic platform, the production potential of Búzios has taken a significant leap. This FPSO has the capacity to process 225 thousand barrels of oil and 12 million cubic meters of gas per day.
Petrobras’ expectations are high, with the field projected to reach one million barrels per day in the coming months , with an ambitious target of reaching 1.5 million barrels by 2030.
Petrobras on the path to new production frontiers
Petrobras, in collaboration with international partners, continues to invest in innovation in offshore exploration . The technological solutions implemented in Búzios have improved operational efficiency and reduced extraction costs, consolidating the field as one of the greatest achievements in the Brazilian energy industry.
The Búzios field , operated by Petrobras in consortium with CNOOC, CNPC and PPSA, continues to be a key pillar for energy production in Brazil . With new platforms and constant improvement in its operations, Búzios is poised to continue achieving new milestones in the near future.
