Meta and Zelestra to boost clean energy with new solar projects in Texas

This project represents a growth in installed solar capacity, while establishing the state of Texas as a renewable energy hub.

Meta continues to strengthen its commitment to renewable energy by signing four new agreements with Zelestra . These contracts will allow the development of solar projects that will add 595 MWac to the ERCOT grid in Texas.

Meta and Zelestra collaborate together in energy expansion

The projects will be located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas and Henderson counties, consolidating both companies’ presence in the Texas energy market. Meta ‘s Director of Global Energy, Urvi Parekh, said, ” The renewable energy from these projects will support our data center operations as well as our ongoing efforts to match our electricity consumption with 100% clean, renewable energy .”

For his part, Phillip North, CEO of Zelestra US , highlighted: “We are pleased to triple the size of our partnership with Meta, demonstrating that we share the same commitment to accelerate decarbonization. The agreement is a major boost to our broader ambition to double our total portfolio of contracted renewable energy in the United States in the next two years.” Zelestra has a portfolio of 6.6 GWdc in projects under development across several regions of the United States.

The advancement of these projects represents a growth in installed solar capacity, while establishing the state of Texas as a renewable energy hub . The electricity generated will directly contribute to the stability of supply for Meta’s data centers, which are essential for its global operations.

With this initiative, Meta reaffirms its leadership in sustainability within the technology sector, while Zelestra strengthens its role as a major player in the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable energy sources.
