AtoB@C Shipping , a leading short sea shipping operator, has signed a long-term contract with BAAS Shipping to add six modern, low-emission vessels between 2025 and 2027. This move underlines its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the maritime sector.

Sustainable, low-emission eco-ships

The new 5,900 dwt eco-ships, designed by Dutch Groot Design, feature unique features that reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% compared to smaller 5,000 dwt models. Their design includes flexible cargo holds, optimized for different types of cargo, with a total capacity of 321,000 cubic feet.

The first vessel , named Baymar , has already been delivered by the Dajin shipyard in China and will soon begin operating on AtoB@C Shipping routes. The second, Soundmar , is expected this month, while the remaining four will arrive in 2026. This refurbishment responds to the need to ensure more sustainable and efficient operations in an increasingly demanding global market.

Frida Rowland, Commercial Director at AtoB@C Shipping, said:

We are currently investing in the renewal of our own fleet, but at the same time we need to ensure modern, low-emission capacity for our time-hire fleet as well.

Dierk Faust, Managing Director of BAAS Shipping, highlighted the positive impact of this collaboration in key sectors of maritime transport .

This expansion reinforces AtoB@C Shipping’s leadership in the transition towards sustainable shipping, while supporting industrial customers with modern and environmentally friendly solutions.

The most interesting fact in the news is that the new AtoB@C Shipping eco-ships, designed by Dutch Groot Design , allow a reduction of up to 50% in CO2 emissions , marking a significant step towards more sustainable maritime transport.
