Emerging brand Syntilay, backed by Reebok co-founder Joe Foster, has unveiled what it claims to be the first fully AI-powered shoe . Combining 3D printing technology and generative design, the groundbreaking project aims to transform the footwear industry through customization, sustainability and production efficiency.
AI shoes: This is how they are created
Syntilay has integrated artificial intelligence into every step of its shoe design. From conceptualization to final patterns, AI has been key to optimizing time, reducing waste, and delivering a unique design. According to Kedar Benjamin, lead designer on the project, the process includes advanced tools such as MidJourney AI and Vizcom AI, allowing concepts to be materialized into production-ready 3D models.
In addition, the collaboration with the manufacturer Zellerfeld has boosted the implementation of 3D printing technology, reducing manufacturing times by up to nine times compared to the industry standard.
Syntilay’s sustainable approach is one of its biggest draws. Each pair of shoes is 100% recyclable , allowing customers to return them at the end of their life to be transformed into new products . Furthermore, personalized fitting is achieved by scanning feet via a mobile app, ensuring a comfortable and accurate wearing experience.
