NMDC Energy PJSC , a subsidiary of NMDC Group , has been awarded a $1.136 billion engineering, procurement and construction ( EPC ) contract to develop a submarine gas pipeline in Taiwan. The project, awarded by Taiwan Power Company , reinforces the island’s commitment to its transition to a cleaner and safer energy matrix.

The contract involves the installation of 111 kilometres of underwater pipelines between the towns of Taichung and Tung-Hsiao, at depths of up to 55 metres. It also includes works to approach the coast and dredging operations covering a volume of six million cubic metres. These activities underline the company’s technical capacity to lead highly complex marine engineering projects.
Taiwan is a strategic market in the Asian region, and a strategic hub for NMDC Energy’s positioning in a sector marked by increasing demand for sustainable solutions. Yasser Zaghloul, CEO of NMDC Group, noted: “ This landmark contract underlines NMDC Energy’s position as a global leader in marine engineering and solutions, while driving Taiwan’s energy transition ambitions .”
For his part, Ahmed Salem Al Dhaheri, CEO of the company, said: ” Over the past three years, we have boldly expanded our renewable energy operations in Taiwan, forging transformative partnerships to generate opportunities for the integration of diverse clean energies .”
The award represents a step forward in Taiwan’s ability to handle 2.3 million tons of natural gas annually, an essential element for its energy security. The company’s experience in delivering complex and sustainable projects, combined with its focus on innovation, positions the company as a global leader in marine engineering and renewable energy.
