Archer Aviation has completed construction of its new high-volume manufacturing facility , known as ARC, in Georgia. This facility, connected to Covington Municipal Airport, is set to begin production in early 2025, with the goal of reaching a rate of two aircraft per month by the end of that year. With this progress, Archer is positioned to lead the transition to more sustainable and clean aviation .
Strategic collaboration with Stellantis
The ARC plant has been developed in collaboration with Stellantis, the global automotive group that brings its expertise in advanced manufacturing and cutting-edge technology. Through this agreement, both companies plan to scale up production of the Midnight electric aircraft, designed to offer an environmentally friendly alternative to ground transportation in congested urban areas. Archer and Stellantis have set out a plan to increase production to 650 aircraft per year by 2030, consolidating the plant as a key hub in the manufacturing of electric aircraft.
The completion of the Covington plant has been celebrated by local political leaders such as Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, who highlighted the state’s commitment to job creation and economic development through technological innovation. With the plant operational, significant employment opportunities are expected for the local community, generating skilled jobs and contributing to the economic growth of the region.
Archer bets on high-volume manufacturing
With the support of Stellantis, Archer is one step closer to fulfilling its mission of offering clean mobility solutions through its fully electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. These aircraft will not only be a greener option, but will also be a quiet and efficient alternative to ground traffic, potentially transforming the way we move around cities around the world.
Tooling for the production line is already underway, with the first aircraft expected to roll off the assembly line in early 2025. From there, Archer has its sights set on expanding production and increasing its manufacturing capacity , with the goal of meeting the growing demand for electric air vehicles . This step is critical to ensuring the future of electric aviation and urban transportation of the future.
