Amazon has unveiled its most advanced delivery drone yet , the MK30, a model that outperforms its predecessors in range and noise reduction. With the ability to reach twice as far and a noise level that is halved compared to previous models, the MK30 marks an important step on the path to more efficient and quieter delivery.
Design and safety of Amazon’s new drone
The Prime Air team has worked for almost two years to build it from the ground up , with a rigorous design process that prioritizes safety and reliability. The new drone features redundant systems that ensure no single point of failure can compromise flight. Plus, it has been tested to operate in light rain conditions, increasing its versatility and safety.
One of the great advances of the MK30 is its ability to operate at significantly lower noise levels. Thanks to innovative propeller designs, the drone is much quieter during takeoff and landing , making it ideal for use in residential areas.
When the MK30 takes off, its sound quickly disappears into the landscape.

The MK30 incorporates advanced machine learning technology that allows it to detect and avoid obstacles, such as trampolines or clotheslines, during its flight. Its perception system is also capable of identifying nearby aircraft and other obstacles not captured by satellite imagery. These improvements make the drone one of the safest and most reliable drones on the market.
Approval obtained and expansion expected
With FAA certification obtained in October , the MK30 has begun operating in targeted areas of Arizona and Texas . Amazon has high expectations for the drone, which will become a key part of its strategy to deliver 500 million packages annually by the end of the decade.
