Munich-based robotics company Devanthro recently revealed its latest generation of Robody , a robotic avatar designed specifically for home assistance for seniors . After a month of testing in real homes, the humanoid robot has proven capable of performing a wide range of tasks, from preparing meals to offering emotional support.

The new Robody has been completely redesigned, with a more agile and precise torso and arms, allowing it to perform household tasks in real environments . Unlike controlled test environments, this robot has been tested in real homes, tackling obstacles such as carpets, narrow hallways and unwieldy items, showcasing its ability to adapt to any home .

Thanks to its advanced control systems and integration with virtual reality (VR) , operators can control the robot with great precision, performing tasks such as taking a shirt out of the closet, cleaning surfaces, or even playing board games, all with surprising ease. This remote assistance via augmented reality and 5G ensures that the Robody can be at the service of users 24 hours a day , offering continuous care.
In a recent LinkedIn post , the company reported that it has made significant progress in Robody hands technology.
Initially designed to mimic the natural, precise movement of human hands, early trials with tendon-powered hands gave way to a more pragmatic solution: grippers. These provide greater control and stability for tasks requiring a firm grip, such as holding objects or opening drawers.
Despite this, Robody developers are not stopping there and are improving the design of the hands, incorporating features that allow them to perform more delicate tasks.
