Shearwater Geoservices has been selected to conduct a 3D seismic survey in the Indian Ocean, specifically off the east coast of India. This project is licensed by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation ( ONGC ), and has an area scope of over 2,200 square kilometers, with a duration of approximately four months, starting in early 2025.

The Oceanic Sirius probe , a state-of-the-art vessel with professional measurement technology, will be tasked with carrying out seismic exploration in this vast area, providing critical data that will enhance the development of geophysical investigations. This operation aligns with Shearwater’s track record of 8 consecutive seasons of successful operations offshore India.
Irene Waage Basili, CEO of Shearwater, highlighted: “ Our extensive experience in 3D seismic data acquisition, coupled with our strong presence in India, ideally positions us to deliver results that meet the highest quality standards, while maintaining sustainable margins for our clients .”
The subsea project led by Shearwater follows the growing trend of oil exploration in international waters. The integration of advanced technology allows for detailed images of the seabed, facilitating informed decision-making on the natural resources of the region. Through technological innovation in marine geophysics, the project will ensure accurate data for future exploration operations in the area.
Shearwater Geoservices continues to demonstrate its ability to execute large-scale projects, with cutting-edge equipment and technology that ensure efficient and high-quality results for subsea exploration. In addition, its collaboration with ONGC strengthens the strategic importance of this new seismic research project for hydrocarbon resources.
