Vestas has signed a major order for 900 MW for the Nordseecluster B wind farm project in the German North Sea. This contract was awarded by RWE and includes the installation of 60 V236-15.0 MW wind turbines, which will be responsible for a significant part of the project’s total capacity.

The project phases are being carried out as follows: Phase A , with 660 MW, and Phase B , which reaches 900 MW. Phase A was confirmed in June 2024, with the installation of 44 V236-15.0 MW turbines.

The technology used in Nordseecluster B is based on Vestas’ V236-15.0 MW wind turbines, the largest and most energy-efficient of all, designed specifically for offshore projects. These wind turbines are optimized for operations in extreme maritime conditions, maximizing efficiency in energy production.

Under this agreement, the company will supply the turbines and will be responsible for the installation and reconditioning of each one. In addition, Vestas will manage the maintenance of the wind turbines during a five-year service contract. This will be followed by a long-term operational support contract, which will guarantee the efficient and sustainable operation of the facility.

Vestas President for Northern and Central Europe, Nils de Baar, expressed his satisfaction with this new agreement, stressing that “This flagship project reflects our ongoing commitment to clean energy advancements and developments. We thank RWE for their long-term collaboration, which has been instrumental in making this project a reality. ”.

RWE Offshore Wind COO Thomas Michel commented on the importance of collaboration on this project: “With the addition of Nordseecluster B to our project portfolio, we are building offshore wind farms with a total capacity of 4.8 gigawatts. This close collaboration with our supply chain partners is essential for the success of the project. ”.
