Aikido Technologies, Inc. has taken a significant step forward in the offshore wind industry by successfully completing final structural assembly of the Aikido One floating platform in less than 40 hours . This achievement, completed by Chet Morrison Contractors, sets a new benchmark in accelerated construction times for floating platforms , showing how innovation can significantly reduce lead times on offshore wind projects.

Advantages of the Aikido floating platform

The assembly of the Aikido One demonstrates the platform’s potential to transform the offshore wind industry. Compared to traditional platforms, which typically take months to build, Aikido has reduced this time by a factor of ten . This advancement streamlines the manufacturing process and enables offshore wind project developers to increase deployment speed and reduce operating costs.

The Aikido One floating platform demonstrates how floating technology can be a viable solution for domestic wind turbine production. Thanks to its compact design, the platform can be transported more efficiently using traditional barges and accessing smaller ports. This opens up new opportunities for the construction of offshore wind projects, even in areas with limited port infrastructure .

Port Pascagoula, the ideal place for Aikido One tests

As part of this advancement, Aikido has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Port Pascagoula , a strategic seaport on the Gulf of Mexico. The agreement will allow Aikido to conduct platform testing off the Singing River Island pier, leveraging the port’s high-capacity facilities to ensure a successful testing campaign.

This achievement also highlights the Gulf Coast region’s potential to become a key hub for floating platform production. With an ecosystem of offshore structure supply, construction and transportation, the region is well positioned to support the growth of the offshore wind industry, both domestically and internationally.
