ScottishPower has announced a significant deal with Siemens Gamesa, worth more than £1bn, to build offshore wind turbines for the East Anglia TWO project. The 115 metre long turbine blades will be manufactured at Siemens’ plant in Hull, a major boost to the local economy which has already created 1,300 jobs.
The East Anglia TWO wind farm , located 33 kilometres off the Suffolk coast, promises a capacity of 960 MW of clean energy , enough to power one million homes. This agreement reinforces ScottishPower’s commitment to green energy, part of its expanded £24 billion investment plan to 2028.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer highlighted the importance of this project in the UK’s mission to become a clean energy superpower. He also pointed out how collaboration with companies like these is essential to reducing energy bills and generating sustainable economic growth .
ScottishPower CEO Keith Anderson said the rapid implementation of projects such as East Anglia TWO was crucial to the success of the country’s energy mission and the creation of a reliable UK supply chain. Siemens, which employs 6,000 people in the country , also highlighted Hull’s role as a catalyst for jobs and the energy transition.
East Anglia TWO joins other projects such as East Anglia ONE and THREE in ensuring the production of enough energy for three million homes when fully operational. The final decision on the project was facilitated by the recent success in the UK’s sixth round of Contracts for Differences allocation.
