Proyecto EIFFEL

The EIFFEL Project has concluded with remarkable results , offering new solutions for the environmental management of the ports of the Balearic Islands using artificial intelligence (AI) technology . The initiative, led by Prodevelop in collaboration with the Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) and the Polytechnic University of Valencia, has developed a tool to mitigate the environmental impact of port operations.

Environmental management with the EIFFEL project

Prodevelop, recognized for its expertise in technological solutions for the maritime sector since 1993, applied satellite data from the Global Earth Observation System of Systems (GEOSS) together with information from local sensors. This combination makes it possible to predict levels of pollutants, such as NO2 and PM2.5 particles, up to 72 hours in advance. Authorities can thus take proactive measures to reduce pollution in nearby urban areas, aligning port operations with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Furthermore, the close collaboration between Prodevelop, the APB and other entities demonstrated that joint work is key for environmental innovation projects such as the EIFFEL project . Although the project has ended, the tools developed will continue to influence port sustainability, contributing to future policies and best practices in environmental management.
