Marula Mining, a company focused on mining and the development of strategic metals in Africa, has announced a major upgrade to its operations at the Kinusi copper mine , located in the Dodoma region of Tanzania. In collaboration with its local partner, Takela Mining , the company has made progress in the extraction of high-quality copper ore through open-pit mining techniques in pit No. 4.

The Kinusi copper mine and its potential shows

This quarter, Marula Mining has started the collection and stockpiling of premium copper , which will be processed in two phases to optimize its purity. Following a visit by company executives to the Kinusi mine, three representative 10kg samples of ore were collected and will be sent to South Africa for advanced metallurgical testing. These tests will help refine the design of the Phase 1 processing circuit, which will produce 24,000 tonnes per year of high-quality copper concentrate .

Marula Mining is in the process of finalising sales agreements for three test shipments, each containing between 100 and 250 tonnes of high purity oxide copper ore , destined for buyers in the UK and Switzerland. This initiative is the first step towards establishing a long-term export agreement for copper concentrate and copper cathodes.

For its part, the company continues to advance in the acquisition of mobile mining equipment that will arrive at the end of 2024. This will allow it to meet the production levels required for Phase 1 , in which the mineral will undergo a heap leaching process and refining by solvent extraction.

Jason Brewer, CEO of Marula Mining , has highlighted that the Kinusi copper mine represents an “ exciting step forward in the development of the company ”, with the expectation that processing operations will begin in 2025. He also underlined the company’s commitment to safe and responsible mining practices that benefit local communities and ensure the long-term sustainability of its projects in Africa.
