Spanish company Cepsa announces its name change to Moeve . This transformation symbolises its firm commitment to the energy transition in Europe, driven by its “ Positive Motion ” strategy and its decarbonisation goal.

Cepsa becomes Moeve

This rebranding is much more than a change of identity: It represents Moeve’s intention to become a leader in clean energy, prioritizing green hydrogen and advanced sustainable biofuels .

With an investment of 8 billion euros, Moeve will allocate more than 60% to sustainable initiatives, such as the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Valley, the largest project in Europe to produce this fuel on a large scale.

Moeve is also expanding its network of ultra-fast charging stations in the Iberian Peninsula, with the aim of ending the year with 400 operational points in Spain and Portugal, thus promoting electric mobility in European countries.

Furthermore, the company is developing a 2G biofuels complex in Huelva, with a production capacity of one million tons per year, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel. These fuels are available at several airports and ports in Spain, positioning Moeve as a leading provider of clean and accessible transport solutions.

The company has reinforced its commitment to sustainability by reducing its share of oil production by almost 70% compared to 2022. According to its CEO, Maarten Wetselaar, this rebranding reflects the decision to “lead the energy transition in Europe, especially in the field of green molecules, such as hydrogen and the new possibilities of second-generation biofuels .”

Moeve’s impact is not limited to sustainability: By promoting clean energy and security of supply projects, such as the maritime corridor between Algeciras and Rotterdam, the company aims to contribute to European energy independence, aligning itself with the European Union’s REPowerEU strategy . Additionally, the Moeve Foundation will continue to promote initiatives that support a fair and ecological transition for the most vulnerable sectors.
