Cubico Sustainable Investments, a global leader in renewable energy investments, has announced the start of operations of the 132 MWdc Crossett Solar Park , located in Ashley County, Arkansas, USA. This new facility, in addition to expanding Cubico’s presence in the US clean energy market, reinforces its commitment to sustainability by reaching more than 800 MW of operational capacity in the country.

The solar park that boosts Google’s green goal

The Crossett Solar Park has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google , which will be the primary recipient of the electricity generated. This agreement will allow Google to advance its goal of operating carbon-free energy at its Midwest data centers by 2030. The collaboration, facilitated through LevelTen Energy’s LEAP™ process, streamlines the clean energy purchasing process, demonstrating an efficient approach to the tech giant’s energy transition.

The project financing, completed in conjunction with Greenprint Capital as tax equity partner, enabled the successful completion of the solar park in September 2024. This collaboration highlights how the tax credit framework in the US facilitates the development of large-scale renewable projects . With this installation, Cubico achieves a relevant position in the Mid-Continent (MISO) market, one of the largest and fastest-growing electricity markets in the US.

Growth in the clean energy market

The entry into operation of the Crossett Solar Park reflects a strategic expansion by Cubico into rural areas of the US, especially in Arkansas, which will generate around 1,200 GWh of solar energy by 2023. Cubico’s US Director, Stacey Kusters, highlighted the importance of this partnership, indicating that the energy generated will benefit Google and contribute to the sustainability goals of Arkansas and its surrounding areas.

This project marks another milestone in the race to carbon-free energy infrastructure in the country, boosting green jobs and strengthening the future of clean energy in North America.
