Recurrent Energy Celebrates Successful Operation of 134 MW Liberty Solar Project in Texas

The company plans to maintain ownership and operation of Liberty Solar for the long term, strengthening its presence in the U.S. energy sector.

Recurrent Energy , a subsidiary of Canadian Solar , has announced the successful completion of principal operations at Liberty Solar, a 134 MW ( 100 MWac ) solar project located in Liberty County near Houston, Texas.

This project is a strategic addition that reinforces the commitment of Recurrent Energy and its corporate customers, such as Autodesk , Biogen , EMD Electronics and Wayfair , to a transition towards renewable and sustainable energy.

Liberty Solar will power approximately 15,000 homes annually, expanding solar generation capacity in Texas and the Midcontinent Independent System Operator ( MISO ) market. “ Liberty Solar is a project that symbolizes our mission to expand clean energy to meet our customers’ sustainability goals ,” said Ismael Guerrero, CEO of Recurrent Energy.

For the participating companies, this project represents a major step toward their environmental goals. Autodesk and Biogen , for example, highlighted the project’s role in advancing their long-term sustainability commitments. “ Investing in additional renewable capacity on the grid is essential to achieving more sustainable outcomes ,” said Joe Speicher, chief sustainability officer at Autodesk.

Mark Stover of the Texas Solar Energy Association congratulated the company for its work to meet growing demand for electricity in a state that has seen a surge in the adoption of renewable energy.
