Manufacturing giant Haizea has successfully completed the first monopile for the East Anglia Three offshore wind farm , a flagship renewable energy project being developed by ScottishPower Renewables. This first component, which is an impressive 74 metres long and 10 metres in diameter , will be one of 50 monopiles to be installed at the farm, located 69 kilometres off the Suffolk coast.

About East Anglia Three offshore wind farm

East Anglia Three , with a projected capacity of 1.4 GW, is part of an ambitious set of offshore wind projects in the East Anglia region. With the capacity to generate clean electricity for hundreds of thousands of homes, this wind farm is key in the transition to more sustainable energy in the United Kingdom.

The East Anglia Three offshore wind farm will cover an area of 305 km² at sea, with up to 100 offshore turbines generating energy from the wind. Each will reach a height of 262 metres from the tip of the blades, with a rotor diameter of 230 metres. In addition, subsea cables are planned to transport the energy from the offshore platforms to the coast and then to the Bramford onshore substation, where it will be distributed.

According to ScottishPower Renewables , this wind farm, whose construction began in July 2022, will become operational in 2026, allowing the United Kingdom to make further progress on its goals of reducing carbon emissions and strengthening renewable energy infrastructure. This project is essential to support the country’s efforts to combat climate change , improve energy security and create green jobs in the long term.
