Calgary-based energy company HWN Energy has confirmed that it has successfully contained the incident at the Rocky View gas well, located 8 km north of Cochrane, Alberta. According to official information, the incident resulted in a fire that started on Monday, September 30, and industry experts were mobilized to contain the situation as quickly as possible.

Safety was the primary concern during the emergency. HWN evacuated non-essential personnel and established an exclusion zone to protect both employees and the community. By October 1, after implementing a well control plan reviewed by regulatory authorities, the fire was extinguished and the well was fully under control. By 5:30 p.m. m. local time, no further emissions of gases or liquids were reported from the affected well.
Authorities continue to monitor air quality in the area, and so far “no risks to public health have been detected.” The company has reiterated its commitment to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations carried out by OHS ( Occupational Health and Safety ) and the AER (A lberta Energy Regulator ) to determine the cause of the incident.
HWN ‘s CEO expressed concern for the five injured workers, assuring that the company maintains a strict privacy policy regarding their condition. On the other hand, the company remains focused on ensuring the safety of its employees and the community, as it moves forward with the recovery of the well and the development of the investigation.
