On the first day of the SLOM 2024 Conference, IRM, an Indian company specializing in maritime solutions, highlighted the relevance of its fenders in port infrastructure protection. The conference, which brings together experts from the maritime industry, has been a crucial platform for IRM since its first participation in 2021.
IRM’s Regional Head of Marketing and Operations, Krunal Vakil, explained in an interview with the Inspenet team the importance of fenders: “These elements protect port and terminal structures during berthing operations. They absorb the kinetic energy of ships, preventing damage to both vessels and facilities.” Fenders allow ships to stop and moor safely, avoiding impacts that could cause significant damage.
The company has had positive feedback from its previous SLOM participations, noting the quality of the contacts made and the opportunities that have arisen from these meetings. “The cohesion and welcome we have received here have been exceptional. Despite the language barriers, we have found a welcoming environment that has facilitated our growth in the industry,” said Mr. Vakil.
IRM also presented the characteristics of its fenders, which can have a useful life of between 14 and 20 years depending on the design and quality of the materials. “The durability of our fenders is critical to ensure continuous and effective protection on terminal piers,” he added.
The conference has served as a reminder of the value of participating in industry events to establish valuable connections and foster growth. IRM will continue to collaborate with SLOM and participate in future editions to further expand its network and strengthen its presence in the global market.
