The mine has implemented an innovative conveyor system, which takes ROM (run-of-mine) coal from the seam to the surface processing plant, known as CHPP. Although only the dry plant, where the coal is prepared for sale, is currently in operation, the wet plant is expected to be fully operational by 2025. This will allow the coal to be processed for export to international markets, offering higher quality products.
Ayten Saridas, CEO of Australian Pacific Coal, expressed his satisfaction with the progress. The team is working to consolidate port and rail agreements, in addition to securing the capital facility needed to optimize the operation. With the renovations underway, Dartbrook is expected to contribute to the domestic market and become a major player in the international thermal and semi-soft coal market.
The commissioning is a clear indication of Dartbrook’s potential. Australian Pacific Coal has managed in just 18 months to complete the reactivation of the mine, including the installation of the conveyor system, access agreements and the acquisition of specialized equipment. The next objective is to consolidate commercial production, a breakthrough that would make Dartbrook the next step in the mine’s development. Dartbrook a leading producer in the Hunter Valley.
