The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, officially inaugurated the Morrow Batteries gigafactory in Arendal, Norway. This plant, the first of its kind in Europe, is a significant step towards consolidating the region as a leader in the production of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries. (LFP)
The factory, which has already begun trial production, has the capacity to manufacture up to 3 million battery cells per year, equivalent to 1 GWh of capacity. Morrow plans to work closely with its customers to refine the production equipment and ensure optimum quality before starting commercial production later this year.
Morrow Batteries CEO Lars Christian Bacher underlined the importance of this achievement for Norway’s industrial history and highlighted the support received from the government and shareholders.
