The installation of Vestas V174-9.5 MW turbines at the Zhong Neng offshore wind farm in Taiwan has been completed. This 300 MW project is ready to start full production later this year, according to Joris Hol, managing director of Copenhagen Offshore Partners (COP), who is leading the development on behalf of China Steel Corporation (CSC) and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP).
Turbine installation process in the wind farm
Work on the Zhong Neng wind farm began in March 2023 with the installation of piles and foundations. One year later, all jacket foundations were completed by CSBC-DEME Wind Engineering (CDWE) using the Green Jade vessel, the first of its kind built in Taiwan.
The first turbine was installed in May and the last one was recently placed, marking significant progress for the project. The park is expected to provide clean energy to 300,000 Taiwanese households once fully operational. once it is fully operational.
This wind farm is one of three developed by CIP in Taiwan, which together have a capacity of approximately 1,400 MW. Project completion celebrations are scheduled for early September.
