On August 16, 2024, Petrobras signed an important contract with SLB OneSubsea for the acquisition of subsea equipment for the Roncador Field, located in the Campos Basin. This agreement will drive the creation of approximately 500 direct and indirect jobs, strengthening the local economy.
On the acquisition of underwater equipment
The contract includes the supply of two subsea production manifolds (MSP), an electrohydraulic distribution unit (UDEH) and spare equipment. It also includes essential services such as installation, commissioning, maintenance and upkeep of the equipment. One of the highlights is the commitment to a minimum of 40% local content in the demand for goods and services, with the expectation of reaching up to 65%, thus promoting domestic industry.
Manufacturing of the MSP and UDEH will take place at OneSubsea SLB’s facilities in Taubaté (SP) and Curitiba (PR), with production scheduled to start in the first quarter of 2025. On the other hand, service activities will take place at the Macaé (RJ) and Rio das Ostras (RJ) plants.
This subsea equipment is essential for offshore oil and gas production. Subsea production manifolds concentrate extraction from several wells before directing flow to the Stationary Production Unit (SPU), while electrohydraulic distribution units ensure the supply of fluid needed to connect the subsea umbilicals between the wells and the SPU.
The Roncador Field is one of Petrobras’ most important fields, operated in a strategic partnership with Equinorwhere Petrobras holds a 75% interest. The P-52, P-54, P-55 and P-62 platforms, which include FPSO and semi-submersible units, are installed in deep waters between 1,400 and 1,840 meters, and are key to oil and gas production.
