This summer, San Francisco Bay Ferry and a consortium of public and private sector partners launched the Sea Change Ferry, the world’s first commercial passenger ferry to be powered entirely by hydrogen fuel cells. This makes San Francisco Bay a witness to progress against the climate crisis.

For the next six months, the Sea Change will operate as part of the San Francisco Bay ferry network, demonstrating the viability of fuel cell technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. greenhouse gas emissions emissions and improve air quality.

Technology at the service of the environment

The Sea Change is among the first ferries to use hydrogen as an energy source and to set a new standard in sustainable transportation. as an energy source and to set a new standard in transportation sustainability. The ship emits only water vapor, some of which is reused on board, making it the only ship with potable emissions.
