WindSpider has secured a grant of more than US$1.6 million from Innovation Norway to advance the development of its aluminum lifting system, control system and test simulator.

This grant will enable the company to to upgrade its crane for the installation and maintenance of onshore and offshore wind turbines, offering both onshore and offshore, offering innovative advantages and cost reductions. The project marks the start of construction of the system’s first full-scale unit, with the potential to become one of the world’s tallest cranes.
With the increasing activity in the wind, onshore and offshore industry, as well as the increasing size and weight of turbines, they create problems in the supply chain. However, the introduction of solutions such as WindSpider in the search for technologies that reduce costs and allow the use of larger turbines are essential for the development of projects.
In addition, the first commercial floating offshore wind projects are being awarded in Europe. These projects face the challenge of performing repairs on floating turbines. For example, at present, broken parts must be towed to a nearby port, creating a slow, complex and costly process.
The WindSpider project, supported by Innovation Norway, reflects the Norwegian government’s plans to promote domestic suppliers with a focus on export and job creation in the wind industry. This effort leverages knowledge accumulated over decades in the offshore oil and gas industry. WindSpider is supported by major industry players, both in Norway and internationally.
