Maersk Company has created a new division to offer installation services in the offshore wind industry. This new unit, called Maersk Offshore Wind, comes as a spin-off from Maersk Supply Service (MSS), which was recently acquired by Norway’s DOF Group in a transaction valued at $1.11 billion.
In this context, Maersk Offshore Wind is a company owned by AP Moller Holding and currently employs around 40 people. This division will market the innovative concept Wind Installation Vessel (Maersk WIV), developed by MSS. According to the estimates of this new division, this design and concept will reduce the installation time of offshore wind turbines by approximately 30% compared to traditional methods.
The first vessel is expected to be delivered in 2025.

Regarding the objectives of the new division, Martin Larsen, CFO of AP Moller Holding and president of Maersk Offshore Wind, said that new solutions are needed to meet ambitious capacity goals offshore wind in Europe and the United States. Maersk Offshore Wind has therefore been established as an independent entity, leveraging decades of industry experience to accelerate the development of the offshore wind industry.
In addition, Michael Reimer Mortensen, former commercial director of Maersk Supply Service and recently appointed CEO of Maersk Offshore Wind, noted that with its highly skilled team and decades of experience in operating large assets and executing complex offshore projects, Maersk Offshore Wind will focus on providing offshore wind installation services globally, improving both the installation process and addressing critical port infrastructure needs.
Finally, the board of directors of this new company consists of Martin Larsen as chairman, Morten Engelstoft, Marianne Sørensen and Maria Pejter, HR director. AP Moller Holding, who bring their vast experience and professionalism to the project.
