In an official statement, Valeura Energy Inc. has reported the suspension of production from the Wassana field, located offshore the Gulf of Thailand. This decision affects a facility wholly owned by the company.
During a scheduled subsea inspection, a crack was discovered in one of the steel legs of the self-elevating platform of the mobile offshore production unit. mobile offshore production unit (MOPU). Preventive measures with respect to production in the Wassana field
In order to ensure safety and following its rigorous protocols, Valeura Energy has decided to temporarily halt operations in the Wassana field. This preventive measure will allow for additional inspections and analysis to assess the situation comprehensively.
Fortunately, the company has indicated that there have been no incidents or negative impacts on people or the environment due to this problem. Valeura is collaborating with a team of both internal and external experts to determine the best plan of action and ensure the safety of the operation.
