Renewco Power, a British company, and INDHO, an innovative green hydrogen developer in Spain, have launched Indhyco, a novel platform aimed exclusively at developing green hydrogen projects in the Spanish market.

Indhyco will focus its efforts on green hydrogen projects, prioritizing industrial consumption and producing hydrogen close to demand sources, taking advantage of renewable energy. This collaboration brings together Renewco’s experience in renewable energy in Europe and the United States with INDHO’s deep knowledge of green hydrogen in Spain. Indhyco’s goal is to develop 1 GW of ready-to-build (RTB) green hydrogen projects within five years.

Alliance of companies for the project

Renewco is a specialized renewable energy platform focused on solar, wind, battery storage and green hydrogen projects in Europe and the United States. in Europe and the United States. Since its inception in 2021, Renewco has rapidly developed a 5 GW portfolio from 50 projects in the UK, Spain, Italy and the US, many of which are progressing to the RTB phase over the next three years.

INDHO, on the other hand, was one of the first companies to initiate renewable hydrogen renewable hydrogen projects in Spain and Chile in 2016. To date, it has taken two green hydrogen projects in Spain to the RTB phase.

Strengthening the green hydrogen strategy in Spain

Pedro Perejon, Renewco’s Business Development Director in Spain, said that this new platform will strengthen Renewco’s position and diversify its current green hydrogen strategy in Spain, a key region in the sector. He also highlighted the collaboration with Fernando and Ricardo, leading pioneers of green hydrogen in Spain, who bring more than 25 years of experience, which will allow a deep understanding of the green hydrogen ecosystem in the country.

Javier Salgado, H2 Manager at Renewco, added that this alliance will be fundamental to address the urgent demands of industrial decarbonization through green hydrogen projects. This energy vector will help to significantly reduce harmful emissions, contributing to the production of green by-products that are crucial to meet this challenge.

Leveraging existing infrastructure

Fernando A. Román, Director of INDHO, emphasized that Indhyco’s projects support the energy transition in Spain by utilizing existing electricity and natural gas infrastructures, facilitating access to both the industrial and domestic sectors.

Finally, Ricardo Izquierdo, also Director of INDHO, highlighted that Indhyco is equipped with all the necessary capabilities and is at a critical moment to contribute significantly to the ambitious goals set by the governments of Spain and the European Union for the development of green hydrogen production plants.

The launch of Indhyco is an important step towards a sustainable future, promising advances in the development of green hydrogen as an essential component of the global energy transition. The synergy between the two companies aims to create innovative and efficient solutions that will benefit both the industrial and domestic sectors in Spain.
