Hoffmann Green Cement and the VALOREM Group have carried out the world’s first wind turbine foundation pour, using 0% clinker and carbon-free concrete. This innovation was realized at the Plaine des Moulins wind farm in Jazeneuil, Vienne.
Special concrete pouring without clinker
The VALOREM group decided to entrust Hoffmann Green Cement and its partners to execute this world first. The foundations of a wind turbine were poured with a total volume of 630 m³ of carbon-free concrete. By implementing this technology, a reduction of 33 tons of CO₂ emissions was achieved, equivalent to 32% less compared to the use of common concrete, without the need to modify the existing construction method.
This achievement is valuable because of the demanding application it requires. The special use of the pouring should be carried out at once with a high density of reinforcement, to ensure the durability of the structure and high hardening.

The La Plaine des Moulins wind farm, equipped with five 180-meter-high wind turbines at the blade tip, will have a total installed capacity of 18 MW. Annual production is estimated to be approximately 42 GWh of green electricity, representing 18.6% of the electricity consumption of the Haut Poitou community. The park is scheduled to start operations in mid-2025.
