Solarpack has made significant progress in its operations in Colombia by officially connecting the 144 megawatt (MW) La Unión solar plant in the municipality of Montería, Córdoba, to the grid. This project, known as La Unión, highlights the company’s commitment to the decarbonization of the country. The La Unión plant will have the capacity to generate enough energy to supply more than 132,000 homes annually.

It is estimated that it will prevent the emission of more than 123,000 tons of CO₂ into the atmosphere each year, contributing significantly to the reduction of greenhouse gases. The investment for this project was US$100 million. During the construction phase, 1,276 jobs were created, most of which were filled by local workers, thus boosting the region’s economy.
