Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike expressed her firm belief in the future of these vehicles in the city. He also recalled that the futuristic technologies that Tezuka Osamu, the famous manga artist, envisioned seven decades ago are today taking shape in the Japanese present.
This vehicle was manufactured by the U.S. company LIFT, the Hexa. It is a single-seater with eighteen electric motors and power propellers. Unlike airplanes and helicopters, eVTOL vehicles eVTOL vehiclesvehicles allow to offer faster personal travel, directly from one point to another.
Moreover, these vehicles could improve transportation by eliminating the need for airports, reducing traffic bottlenecks and the high costs associated with hiring pilots, because they have automatic flight capability.
The Hexa challenge
The commercialization of flying cars faces several challenges. These include battery size, air traffic management and other infrastructure issues. Although the Tokyo government has planned for them to be operational from 2030, they are expected to solve problems such as traffic congestion and improve access to disaster areas.
