The impact of solar energy in Central America

One of the countries is the Dominican Republic, as one of the main Caribbean markets for Sungrow, with contracts totaling around 400 MW of photovoltaic capacity distributed throughout the island. Additionally, in Central America, the company is rapidly expanding in other markets such as Panama, where it will add about 120 MW, and another 60 MW in El Salvador.

According to Sungrow’s director for Latin America, Gonzalo Feito, he details an increase in the power capacity of photovoltaic projects, as well as the inclusion of energy storage in batteries for integration into the electrical grid . He also highlighted that the company has supplied a total of 2.4 GWh in storage in Latin America, stating: ” As a manufacturer, I do not conceive solar projects without considering the integration of storage systems, either in the present or in the future ,”

During the Future Energy Summit ( FES ) event in the Caribbean, Gonzalo Feito highlighted Sungrow’s technological versatility. ” Our evolution seeks to create a hybrid between string and core technologies .” Currently, the company is developing a modular central inverter that comes in blocks of 1.1 MW and can reach up to 8.8 MW, with a medium voltage system integrated into a single container, practical and highly efficient.
