After spending several days near the Uruguayan coast, the imposing Posh Xanadu oil platform finally docked in the port of Montevideo , from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Previously, the platform had been active offshore. Registered under the Bahamas flag, it entered Pier 8 last Thursday afternoon.
Features of the oil platform
Built in 2013, Posh Xanadu measures 122 meters long and 45 meters wide . This massive structure has the capacity to hold up to 700 people, highlighting its great size and functionality. This is the first time that the platform operates from Montevideo and heads towards Pernambuco, in Brazil.
Items to be loaded on board include spare parts and fuel. The representation of the ship is in charge of the GAC Agency , as detailed by Captain Della Santa himself. Diversity is also notable in its crew, which is made up of Brazilian, Filipino, Mexican officers and other nationalities, reflecting the team’s multiculturalism.

The importance of Montevideo as a logistics node for maritime and oil operations in the South Atlantic is increasing. This event highlights the operational capacity of the port and also its strategic geographical position, which facilitates the maintenance and logistics of large international vessels in transit.
According to Ricardo Della Santa, captain of the port of Montevideo, the ship will remain in port for 5 days . During this time, you will stock up on various supplies before continuing your journey out to sea. ” This stopover is crucial to resupply before proceeding to your next destination ,” explained the captain.
