ESCATEC, a leading provider of electronics manufacturing services, has implemented intelligent material handling robots at its Malaysian facility.
Development of intelligent handling robots for industries
The robots, supplied by PUDU Robotics, have been installed at the Penang and Johor Bahru plants. Equipped with advanced features such as omnidirectional 3D sensors and independent navigation, these robots are designed to avoid obstacles and operate efficiently in complex production environments.
After rigorous internal testing, ESCATEC has deployed the robots for specific tasks, including handling welding pallets and a variety of tools and accessories. As operators gain experience, the role of robots is expected to expand to include the transport of finished goods and raw materials.
The General Director of ESCATEC Charles-Alexandre Albin, highlights the benefits that material handling robots are bringing to plant operations in Malaysia. By optimizing routing and layout in the plant, these robots reduce delivery times to assembly lines and require less labor.
This is especially useful in an environment with a diverse product portfolio and frequent changes. In addition, the return on investment of the project is just over one year, reflecting the profitability of the intelligent robot project.
