The collaboration between Jevons Robotics and RCT has improved the drilling and blasting method in mining, increasing control, supervision and safety on every project.

These new strategies improve quality control on mine sites, replacing them with an innovative remotely operated electric machine. The new equipment is capable of performing assignments in challenging ground conditions, such as areas with abrupt contours or full of cavities.

A new RCT technology that reduces risks

The implementation of this technology by Jevons Robotics allows for the distribution of explosives or stemming through the use of the ARTEV6000, a product that is operated through a remote control developed by RCT .

This control system allows both line-of-sight and remote control operations, increasing flexibility and safety in the handling of explosive materials. The solutions of this technology have eliminated the need for personnel to perform quality control and manual loading of blast holes.

Technological solutions and security measures

David Wright, RCT’s Custom Manager, highlighted the uniqueness of this project, noting that the challenge was successfully addressed by his team specializing in custom solutions. In addition, this technology eliminates numerous hours of exposure to the risk associated with the high walls of mining cavities and significantly reduces labor fatigue.

“This is the first time we have implemented remote control on a vehicle of this type for an operation of this magnitude,” Wright commented, highlighting the innovative nature of the project. As for the technical execution, Wright explained, “We were able to use the standard loader code, integrating it into the machine and establishing effective communication with the machine.”

The relevance of this innovation transcends simple task automation, as Wright pointed out, “Manual labor in this field is notoriously risky, complicating recruitment and retention. Jevons’ platform offers versatility that can mitigate additional risks and bring substantial value to the mining industry “.

Overview of Jevons Robotics

Todd Peate, the company’s CEO, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration with RCT. Jevons’ search for a teleoperation and line-of-sight control solution found an ideal partner, thanks to its extensive experience and expertise in the mining sector.

“We were looking for a solution that would allow our customers to automate these processes efficiently, and RCT Global has provided us with exactly that,” Todd concluded.
