In the field of electric aviation, Pivotal has marked a milestone with the launch of the Helix, its first single-seat eVTOL aircraft. The highlight of this innovation is that its operation “does not require pilot certification”, thus opening a new horizon in the air personal transport sector.

Innovation in electric aviation: the Helix, an affordable eVTOL

This development has been made possible by the Helix’s classification as an ultralight vehicle by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, which exempts its operators from the need to hold a pilot’s license. However, Spanish regulations still require an appropriate license to operate and pilot them.

On the other hand, one of the most striking innovations of the Helix is its foldable design, conceived for easy transport on a car trailer. This feature is not only a significant technical achievement, but also realizes the dream of integrating air transport into people’s daily lives in a practical and efficient way.

Pivotal has optimized the Helix assembly process so that it can be assembled and operational in as little as 30 minutes, demonstrating a commitment to efficiency and accessibility. However, access to this technology is limited by certain physical requirements: For example, the pilot must not exceed 100 kg in weight or be taller than 1.98 m, thus establishing exclusive criteria for its common use.

Efficiency and design: key features of the Helix

In terms of technical specifications, the Helix is distinguished by its lightweight construction. It is made of carbon fiber, which allows it to maintain a weight of only 157 kg. Its dimensions, approximately 4 m long, 4 m wide and 1.60 m high, together with its ability to perform vertical ascents, position it as an innovative solution in the electric vehicle sector. In addition, this eVTOL offers a flight range of about 32 kilometers, thanks to its 8 kWh battery.

Finally, the Helix not only stands out for its design and ease of use, but also for its energy efficiency. energy efficiency. Thanks to its fast charging system, can recharge its battery from 20% to 100% in only 75 minutes. It is also designed to operate under specific flight conditions, being able to withstand winds of up to 32 km/h and reach a maximum speed of 106 km/h, demonstrating its ability to adapt to various environments and mobility needs.

This launch not only represents a significant breakthrough in electric aviation, but also redefines the possibilities of personal mobility, combining technological innovation with everyday life.
