From Villahermosa, Mexico, during the IMCORRS 2023 conference, Antonio Zavarce from Inspenet had the honor of interviewing Dr. Víctor Orozco, Head Technician of the Protection and Corrosion Laboratory, and Karen Sarahí Valles, Project Coordinator, both representatives of CIMAV , a leading government institution in technology development in Mexico.

This organization not only excels in basic research and development of new products, but also in the training of human resources, with master’s and doctoral programs specialized in environmental science and technology, as well as in materials science.

Since its creation, CIMAV has worked closely with the industry, addressing multiple sectors and delivering high-quality solutions, such as new-generation materials and advanced technologies in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Víctor Orozco, one of the interviewees, highlighted the importance of linking suppliers of equipment and consumables, such as inhibitory coatings and cathodic protection systems, in carrying out high-precision failure analysis.

The future of CIMAV looks promising

The organization plans to renew its student body and continue developing new materials that directly impact various industries. In addition, they seek to remain a benchmark in the transmission of scientific knowledge to their clients and partners.

Both representatives, Victor and Karen, were grateful for the opportunity to share with Inspenet about CIMAV and its achievements, making it clear that their commitment to innovation and education continues to be a priority.
