At the API Summit in San Antonio, we had the pleasure of speaking with Samuel Abranques from EMB Management, a company making waves in the oil and gas industry with their project management, engineering, and inspection services. Based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, EMB is rapidly expanding, with plans to establish offices in Houston and Brazil.
Introducing Metal Magnetic Memory (MMM) Technology
EMB’s innovative approach is encapsulated in their new technology called Metal Magnetic Memory (MMM). This groundbreaking method involves running a sensor over pipelines to detect stress concentration zones, which could indicate cracks, corrosion, or bends. Unlike traditional inspection methods, MMM is cost-effective and efficient, offering significant advantages in pipeline maintenance and safety.
Cost Savings with MMM Technology
Samuel highlighted the cost-effectiveness of MMM technology compared to conventional methods like MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) tools. Traditional pigging techniques in pipeline inspection can cost millions of dollars. In contrast, MMM technology eliminates the need for launching and receiving pigs, drastically reducing expenses. EMB can conduct inspections at a fraction of the cost, making it an attractive option for the industry.
Global Reach and Expansion Plans
While currently operating primarily in South America, with partners in Brazil, Chile, and Peru, and having completed projects in Qatar and Canada, EMB is actively expanding its reach to the US market. Samuel expressed EMB’s ambitions to explore the Asian market in the future, demonstrating the company’s commitment to global growth.
EMB’s Vision for the Future
With a focus on innovation and cost-saving technologies like MMM, EMB is poised to transform the way the oil and gas industry approaches pipeline inspection. Samuel’s enthusiasm for Inspenet’s platform and his invitation to followers to connect with EMB underscore the company’s dedication to fostering relationships and expanding its client base.
