At the Pan-American Conference for Non-Destructive Testing (PANNDT), held in Niagara Falls, Glenn Tubrett, Chairman of the event and CEO of the Canadian Institute for Non-Destructive Evaluation (CINDE), shared a clear vision of where the industry is headed. Early education, international collaboration and a focus on young talent were at the heart of his message.
A privileged setting for an industry event
Niagara Falls was the setting for this year’s eighth edition of PANNDT, an environment that helped create a memorable atmosphere for both attendees and organizers. The location of the convention center, just a few meters from the famous falls, was not only a visual attraction, but also an element that elevated the attendees’ experience.
Now that all the plans are coming together, I feel great. And I hope to see smiles on your faces. I hope everyone had a good time. And that makes me happy for all the effort my team put into this.
Glenn Tubrett.
Educating from the ground up: a strategic priority
The strongest message from CINDE’s CEO revolved around the need to train the new generations and the call to start NDT awareness at an early age, even in primary education. This position responds to the growing concern in the industry about the aging of the technical workforce. The nondestructive testing faces the challenge of ensuring a successful generational transition in an environment where technology is advancing rapidly.
Maybe AI and robotics will come along, and we will lead fewer people, but we really need more people operating at a more sophisticated level.
Glenn Tubrett.

International cooperation and sense of community
PANNDT 2025 was also a platform to strengthen collaboration between associations from different countries, with panels such as the Avalon Theatre, where representatives from Canadian, U.S. and Latin American associations discussed common educational challenges.
These spaces allow reinforcing the sense of community within the NDT world, so that the organizers of future editions in Italy, the United States and Argentina could present their proposals, underlining the rotating and collaborative nature of the event.
A vision with purpose
The interview with Glenn Tubrett made it clear that, beyond logistics and business results, his commitment to the industry is focused on the long term. For him, the key is to inspire, attract and train the future leaders of the sector, and events like PANNDT serve not only as a technological showcase, but also as catalysts for deep conversations about the future of NDT.
In his role as president of the conference and CEO of CINDE, Tubrett puts on the table issues that transcend the current situation and point to the structural development of the sector. A commitment to education, cooperation and future projection as pillars to ensure the sustainability of an increasingly relevant industry in critical sectors such as energy, transportation and infrastructure.
