At the API Summit in San Antonio, we had the chance to speak with Tyler Flanagan, Director of Service and Operations at Arix Technologies, about their innovative pipe inspection robot. This technology represents a significant advancement in the detection and management of corrosion under insulation (CUI).
Innovative Pipe Inspection Robots
Arix Technologies has developed a unique robot that can crawl both vertically and horizontally along pipes to inspect for CUI. Tyler explained,
“We’ve designed and built these robots in the U.S., incorporating commercially available proven NDT products, such as pulse eddy current from Eddyfi.“
The Mission and Vision of Arix Technologies
Founded in 2016 by industry experts, Arix Technologies is dedicated to solving the persistent issue of CUI. Their robots aim to lower costs, enhance data quality, reduce risk, and improve safety in the field. “Our goal is to revolutionize CUI screening through the innovative use of our robotic technology,” Tyler stated.
Global Presence and Operations
While based in Houston, Texas, Arix Technologies operates both in the United States and globally. They have secured global contracts with multiple large oil and gas companies, demonstrating the widespread appeal and utility of their robotic solutions.
Arix Technologies at API Summit
The primary goal for Arix Technologies at the API Summit is to raise awareness about the capabilities and innovation that robotics can bring to the industry. Tyler emphasized, “We want to showcase this cool technology and its potential to assist end-users in the field.“
