During the second day of the 20th SLOM Conference, Alan Thomas, CEO of AMPP (Association for Corrosion Protection), shared valuable information with the Inspenet team about the organization’s initiatives in the fight against corrosion in the maritime industry.
AMPP is presenting itself as a key player in the transition to cleaner energy, actively participating as an exhibitor at SLOM 2024. Thomas explained that the organization not only provides standards and certifications, but is also part of the solution to the challenges facing legacy infrastructure around the world.
“We face corrosion problems everywhere from South America to the Middle East. Our mission is to help mitigate and manage these problems through quality systems,” said Thomas. He also stressed the importance of research into carbon capture and hydrogen economy technologies, as well as the need to transport these resources safely.
The CEO underscored the synergy with SLOM, noting that the sister organization focuses on one of the most challenging environments: saltwater. AMPP partners with SLOM to offer training and certification programs that are critical to industry members.
Among the challenges facing AMPP, Thomas mentioned the shortage of a skilled workforce. “We are committed to developing and educating the next generation of professionals who can address these issues,” he said.
Finally, Thomas invited all interested parties to visit the AMPP website, www.AMPP.org, to learn more about the research and regulations that are making a difference in the industry.
AMPP’s participation in SLOM 2024 reflects its continued commitment to innovation and sustainability, positioning itself as a leader in fighting corrosion and promoting responsible practices in the maritime industry.
