The company ZIM Integrated Shipping Services will launch its new service ‘Patagonia Express Service’ (PES) in the middle of this month, which will connect the United States with the port of Ushuaia Argentina, stopping in Brazil on its return route to the north, reports Alphaliner.
For the route, the shipping company will use the 1,118 TEU ship “PACIFIC TRADER”, which will set sail from the port of Houston this Saturday, April 15. The round trip is expected to take around 51 days.
At the moment, ZIM has only announced a single departure, but the service is expected to be frequent.
Currently, the port of Ushuaia only has the port of the container service of the Buenos Aires-Ushuaia regional circuit, which is operated by Patagonia Shipping Lines (PSL) and uses the “ARGENTINO II” ship of 1,054 TEUs.
With the addition of ZIM’s ‘Patagonia Express Service’ (PES), connectivity and maritime trade in the region is projected to increase.
