Huawei took a monumental step in the renewable energy sector by developing the world’s largest microgrid. With a capacity of 1 billion kWh per year, the solar-powered power plant will be the world’s solar power and photovoltaic photovoltaic energy storage will play a crucial role in Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project, which aims to be the world’s first green city.

Huawei’s microgrid, with a solar capacity of 400 MW and an energy storage system of 1.3 GWh is already operational, providing green electricity to more than 100 km of extension. This breakthrough is not only part of Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Arabia’s vision for 2030but is also a key milestone in the energy industry, demonstrating that clean energy can be both efficient and cost-effective.

Red Sea Project

The Red Sea Project aims to cover an area of 28,000 km², which will include luxury hotels, an airport and a tourism offering that will attract one million visitors annually. With Huawei’s advanced technology, this region will benefit from continuous green energy, improving the sustainability of tourism and infrastructure.

This project has also reduced energy costs significantly. The energy supplied by the microgrid has reached a record price of 10 cents per kWh, a third of what traditional diesel-based energy solutions used to cost.
