Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB) and the University of Warwick of Great Britain are collaborating to carry out a training and scientific exchange process to strengthen the training of Bolivian professionals, with a view to the process of industrialization of evaporite resources, informed the president of the company strategic, Carlos Ramos.
A delegation of five researchers from the British university arrived in Bolivia and is carrying out a series of activities, including training courses and visits to the YLB production pilot plants in the department of Potosí.
“The industrialization of lithium must be accompanied by the scientific and technological part; We have, in our plants, Bolivian professionals who are developing research in the production of evaporative resources and we make every effort so that they have the necessary level of preparation to face the challenges of new technologies”, he explained.
Ramos highlighted that the University of Warwick shares knowledge and experiences in the technological field, with a look at the transition towards the development of more advanced cathode materials and the manufacture of lithium ion batteries, among others.

According to the schedule, the delegation of researchers plans to visit the Pilot Plants for Cathodic Materials and Batteries and the Research Center for Science and Technology of Evaporitic Materials and Resources of Bolivia (CICYT MAT REB) of YLB, located in the La Palca community, Yocalla municipality, in Potosí.
The commission will visit the YLB industrial complex in Llipi, in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni, mainly the research area, where it will address issues related to lithium direct extraction (EDL) technology with Bolivian personnel.
Ramos explained that the visit is part of the inter-institutional cooperation agreement that YLB signed with the University of Warwick at the beginning of this year, with the purpose of developing research and capacities, in order to strengthen the industrialization process and the lithium supply chain.
