XTI Aerospace continues to advance its mission to transform aviation with its innovative TriFan 600 , a hybrid vertical takeoff (VTOL) aircraft designed to offer the best of both worlds: the versatility of a helicopter with the efficiency of a traditional airplane. This time, the company has achieved two key upgrades that further improve its performance and operational efficiency.

TriFan 600 reaches new horizons

First, XTI has updated the TriFan 600’s fuel system , increasing fuel tank capacity by 33% from 300 to 400 gallons. This improvement extends the aircraft’s range and significantly reduces wasted fuel , optimizing flight efficiency. With these advancements, the TriFan 600 is closer to fulfilling its promise of being the longest-range VTOL aircraft, reaching up to 700 miles in conventional flight.

In addition, XTI Aerospace engineers have refined the engine’s air intake and exhaust design, improving aerodynamic efficiency. These changes ensure that the airflow in both vertical and conventional flight modes is much more uniform, resulting in more robust performance from the turboshaft engines. This advancement allows for greater flight stability and reduced air resistance, which increases the aircraft’s top speed and overall efficiency.

XTI Aerospace advances its engineering objectives

The work done by our aerodynamics team has been exceptional. These updates not only improve the performance of the TriFan 600, but also bring us closer to the engineering goals we have set for the first quarter of 2025.

Commented Dave Ambrose, vice president of engineering at XTI Aerospace.

These innovations are part of a series of engineering achievements for the company, including airflow analysis during vertical takeoff and landing , FAA type certification, and improved propulsion for the TriFan 600 .

In the coming months, XTI Aerospace will continue to refine the aircraft’s structural design and work on a mock-up of the flight deck to optimize ergonomics and pilot controls.
