Well-Safe Solutions has announced the award of two contracts valued at $25 million for the logistics execution and decommissioning campaign of wells on the UK continental shelf.
New well decommissioning contracts
These operations will be carried out using the Well-Safe Protector and Well-Safe Defender platforms, covering a total of 170 firm days of work. One of the contracts includes the collaboration with Spirit Energy to decommission five wells on the York platform, located in the southern North Sea.
This campaign will be carried out over 97 days starting in the second quarter of 2025, following the success of a previous intervention in the Trees , Chestnut and Appleton fields. Spirit Energy has underlined the importance of efficient decommissioning, highlighting the strong partnership with Well-Safe.
In addition, Well-Safe Defender will lead a second operation with an undisclosed global client focused on the decommissioning of at least two subsea wells . This project will commence in March 2025 and could extend into 2026, depending on the inclusion of additional wells.

The company continues to expand its global presence, with the recent opening of an office in Malaysia and the appointment of Adrin Shafil as Country Director. With 60% of decommissioning projected in the North Sea by 2026-2032, Well-Safe is poised to be a major player in the transition to more sustainable energy.
